Christmas Fever

Yes, despite the happy holidays, I spend my Christmas sick in bed. I was doing movie marathons but my nose was really itching to the point I was sneezing for every 3 minutes and I ended up with 37 degrees fever.

Then I slept for at least 5 hours and woke up with still a warm fever and sneezes and coughs and colds. Though I didn't spend a grand Christmas holiday because of my sickness, I love this Christmas.

I'd like to thank all the people who gave me gifts and text me a Merry Christmas! I'm sorry if I wasn't able to text back. Couldn't find any store to buy load from. Because their either closed or their loading system is offline like in 7-Eleven.

But I'd like to express my gratitudes so MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Sound Trip: Trouble Maker by JS and Hyuna

Yesterday, while randomly changing my tv channels, I came across a music video. Particularly a song. It's called Trouble Maker by JS and Hyuna and it's the first time I heard it so tell me what you think because I'm loving the MV. XD (P.S.: I don't know who JS and Hyuna is until I watched and heard this!)

Sound Trip: Offbeat by Clara C!

There's one more artist that I'd like to talk about: Clara C!

Well, I only found out about her during the Clara C Competition because of Jun Sung Ahn. (See Previous Post for more details).

And I am totally in love with her song: Offbeat! Love the classic tale and sound. Here's the MV for you!

MORE THAN a Sound Trip: Violinist Jun Sung Ahn

You do know Jun Sung Ahn, right? No. Then meet Jun Sung Ahn! He's one of the coolest violinist I've ever heard! He's also good in doing covers and arrangements.

note: Each time I find someone this great, I'm posting it as MORE THAN a Sound Trip:___.

Anyways, back to the topic. Today wasn't really a great day to begin with. I wasn't able to go to the Christmas Party I was so excited about until this morning. That is, I don't have transportation because of my little brother.

So to cool down my head, I slept for around 5 hours this afternoon and woke up eating chips and polvoron.

Then of course, I had to play and practice my violin: kolar, shifting and vibrato. All about technique.

But I was too lazy to do anything at all. So I wanted to hear and watch some inspiration. And I ended up watching more than 5 videos of Jun Sung Ahn playing the violin. And yes, I'm addicted.

As a violinist, I can probably say that he's really good. Any person can say that he has worked really hard to achieve a high level in violin. And that's not the only thing I'd like to say about him.

He's the type of person that if he plays, you'd want to listen to him in the end. He's not boring when he plays. He lit up the light of any room when you hear him play the strings of his violin.

According to the comments in his youtube account, this is what they'd been saying to him:

"I'm Speechless"
"Make a cd!"
"Fantastic"
"Beautiful"
"Amazing!"

And I deeply and heartily agree to all of these! If you've just give me a chance to ask you to hear him.

I call him:

The music that silenced me.
Speechless.

Sound Trip: Fireflies by Owl City

Do you still remember Fireflies by Owl City ? I remembered singing this when I was in 6th grade. And I loved their music video.

Why am I bringing this up? Simple. Sound Trip Time! More like, I said to myself what song I'd like to listen to now. And in a daze, it brought me back to Fireflies of my memories.

Here's the video of Fireflies by Owl City.

Christmas Party of CCP BP

Yes, I attended another Christmas Party for CCP. But this time it's for the company show/cast of Sleeping Beauty. It was held at A.T.C. in the Fort Bonifacio High Street.

The party was supposed to start at 5 pm. But it seems like the traffic made us wait for an hour more. I came there around 6 pm and only less people arrived before me. So while we were waiting, we took pictures of the part and us.

By the way, the theme was Prom Night so of course we're wearing dresses and coat and tie!

Yes, we were picturing ourselves in the mirror. Don't we love the mirror too much? We've been using mirrors everyday for dancing classes!
The set place where the party was is gorgeous and I love the garden. I just don't think I took a picture of it.

The stage with the dazzling lights in the middle!

I never knew the reason why I took picture of the roof of the house. It just seems so angular to me.
Our Emcees then told us to eat first. After many people arrived, we started with games.

So the first game was the longest time for the person to say "Hey" from the song Jingle Bells as we sing the song. So it's like:

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
Jingle all the way!
Oh what fun, in a mystery ride,
with a one horse open sleigh
HEY!!! (timed)

I was picked to join the game. So there were 5 girls and 5 boys. We were alternating the chance to sing. So it's boy-girl-boy-girl and so on. It was funny because some of us laughed too much that it's hard to make the Hey sound longer. And I'm one of them! My time was 7 seconds. The winner? Double my time. and it's a consistent win! It was funny how he won because he was changing the tone to be able to breath without stopping. It's complicated to explain. But it was so funny!

The second game was another race between 4 groups. The race was about running around a chair with a paper plate between the neck and the shoulder, the legs and the under arm while fanning yourself with another paper plate. I wasn't part of the game but there was a winner and it's fun to see them run around the front of the stage!

We had then a performance competition. It was on-the-spot performance competition to those who wanted to join the talent show, that is. There were 4 contestants. The first two girls, sang Price Tag. The second was a group performance of acting, jokes and singing. The third group was hilarious yet amazing. it was a duet of a song by Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid and both of the boys were singing it yet their voices are amazing! The third was funny yet dance-y. There was a plot and they were the most out of all the other groups. Of course, there's a winner and everyone recieved a prize.

Then we had exchange gifts! Ours was quite different from the usual numbering. It was like playing stop dance but the gift is the one moving. The gift is going to move, then the speaker will make a surprise exchange from person across, left to right or even saying "Boys will exchange with a girl" or "the girls will exchange gifts with anyone in the room". I ended up with having 300 Pesos worth of gift cheque at SM. I loved it since I'd be able to buy the earphones I wanted so badly. My exchange gift by the way were headphones.

After that, we had crowning of Top Best Prom Costume of the Night and Prom King and Queen. Everyone was beautiful and of course there were prizes for the winners.

Last but not the least, we had the last game probably. It was the calamansi race. Calamansi in english is Calamondin. The game is that there would be 10 participants of each group. and each person will run and circle around a chair while holding the Calamansi with a spoon by biting the spoon itself. So it's like, you hold the spoon with your mouth and the Calamansi on top of that spoon. After that, you'll pass the Calamansi by the spoon itself still in your mouth. If the Calamnsi drops in the process, you'll have to repeat your round. Unfortunately we were 3rd place. but luckily, I enjoyed the game.

I went home already around Quarter to 12 and it was worth my time even if I had school the next day. It was one of the best Christmas Party ever!

Oh also by the way, while waiting for the Talent Show to start, the Principal Dancers and some alumnae said some speech about the experience of Sleeping Beauty. And what amazed me the most is what Ms. Edna Vida-Froilan taught us. To achieve your dream, to have a goal and never give up.   She had the longest speech and story, but it was worth to listen. It was fun when you listen to her stories when she started to dance and how she also experienced performing The Sleeping Beauty 23 years ago in CCP.

CCP DS Christmas Party!

The evening of December 11, 2011 the CCP DS had our own mini christmas party at our Rehearsal Hall. After the last show/matinee of the Sleeping Beauty, the CCP Dance School had our party as an end-year get together.

The party started around 6 pm with all the food catered, buffet type. We started to eat first thing. there were spaghetti, Asado and even seafood. No Rice. only sprite, royal or coke with ice.

Most of the scholars did attend and some with their parents. Some company members also joined the celebration and we even played games.

GAMES

I joined the first game of the party. The game was about two groups racing to pop all the balloons by sitting on it. The first group to finish popping all the balloons win. At the first, we were at the head of the game but as the game ends we ended up finishing tied or not. What really happened is that I was the last person to pop the balloon. As I ran back to my group for the race I tripped myself and hit my right chest and cheek on the floor like I was diving. At first I couldn't breath normally because it hit part of my lungs. As I sat up, unknowingly one person said "Look! She's still pointing!" and I was like, oh yeah I did! I just laughed it all off and be happy. I don't like ruining the mood. One person even told me, you should have also back bend to complete the profile! I laughed and the mood went back to normal.

The second game was about 5-8 people being blind folded and finding a C2 bottle held by a person who moves from time to time. You're only clue to find that person and the bottle is his voices and movements if you ever feel it. Throughout the game, we were having a great time watching them. It was so funny! One person was really moving around but gets the wrong people and the others went to the wrong direction. It probably took them more than 10 minutes to finish the game. It was hilarious the way the person with the C2 bottle moves from right to left, forward and back, to trick the contestant. In the end, there will always be a winner.

The third game is what we common filipinos know. It's the game called "Pinoy Henyo".  This game was probably popularized by GMA I think. I don't really know either ways. Anyways, the game goes like this. There will be two players in each round. One player will seat at opposite end to each other. One of them will be wearing a paper or board on top of his/her head and there's a word that is written there. That person will be guessing that word for a time limit. The other person who sees the word will only give clues by saying yes, no, or maybe to the person's question. Example would be this:

Person A's word is: watch
A- the one who'll be guessing/B-the one who'll be giving clues
(the conversation goes like this)

A:  is it a person?
B: no.
A: a thing?
B: yes!
A: Is it useful?
B: yes!
A: Is it connected to numbers?
B: Maybe.
A: Is it an accessory?
B: Maybe.
A: Is it a watch?
B: YES!

Then the team will win. The time limit for our game was 2 minutes. And we did two rounds of each pair switching them vise versa. There was only one team who won. Which is Kuya T. and Kuya P. It became funny from the words that the guesser say. And sometimes, it's too far away or unrelated and it just made us laugh.

After the 3rd game, we had our exchange gift. we were asked to give the gifts at the start of the party and they wrote numbers in it. Each number correspond to a certain gift. So everyone who gave a gift, lined up and picked a number. As they give the number to the gift checker, they give you your gift and a small gift bag of chocolates! Yahoo! I picked #3 and the gift that corresponded to it was a cork board plus a white board. I loved it since I was in deep need of cork board to post it in my room. It's unnecessary to buy my own alone. Wouldn't it be boring?

After the exchange gift, we left and went home already. That was one of the best Christmas Party ever. Full of joy and laughter!

Starbucks 12/11/11

I've been to Starbucks before. But I never tried to buy their frappes or coffee mix. All I've eaten are their sweets like the Chocolate Doughnuts. And I present you my very first Chocolate drink from Starbucks!

I think it was chocolate that I bought. It's the plain and classic one. And it's cold. I loved the chocolate mix at Starbucks. Though the whip cream doesn't compliment my taste it at all. So  I left it in the cup after I drank the chocolate drink part.

I wasn't drinking alone by myself. I was with Ate C. and G. and we're all drinking different flavors of the frappe.

It's been a long time since I've been to Starbucks. And I'm thinking of making it my hang out place next year!

The Sleeping Beauty by CCP BP

Updating my very first posts about my role in the classical ballet of The Sleeping Beauty for the Company Dance of CCP. I danced Waltz of the Flowers. Usually known as the Garland Dance with the boys of SDS. I only took pictures at the last day of the show when the boys were about to leave. Here are they:

The SDS boys with Kuya K.

The SDS boys with Kuya K. and R.

The SDS boys with [from left], G., me, M., and Y. (the girls)

The SDS boys with [from right], Ate E., M., and B.

While helping dress up the Queen for Act 3.

FAMILY PICTURE! (3 minutes before Act 3 starts)

So pretty much that's it. Well, this was the last show pictures. Most of them were from after Act 1 of Sleeping Beauty because the SDS boys were leaving and that was the last time we'd see them for the show.

This is my first company show with CCP BP. And it's a wonderful experience. it's not only a ballet. It's like I'm part of a story. A story that portrays not only the concept but the magic. Thank You CCP!

The Sleeping Beauty Recital Part 2

CONTINUATION....

Other than N, S, and L, there were also passerby who took pictures with us like our Kuya D, Kuya F and Kuya J. (I'm not giving out real names. Initials only).

Here are some of their shots.

So that's most of us. Well probably most of it. Other than that, The Sleeping Beauty Recital is for the students to be able to perform. I'd also like to congratulate one of my best friends, Clar. for getting a promotion! (LEMME HEAR THE CLAPS!) *claps* you can visit her blog at http://www.livetheworldlikearunaway.wordpress.com/ She has great fashion sense, beautiful art works and an amazing voice!

The Sleeping Beauty Recital

I've told you before that I dance ballet. And with that said, My Dance School had a recital for the school from Baby Ballet Students to Advanced students. This year, we re-staged the classical ballet of The Sleeping Beauty.

The Sleeping Beauty Recital is different from the CCP BP show that I blogged earlier. This one is for the school. If you're confused, I'll tell you the difference between the school and the company.

In the school, when it comes to re-staging ballets or any work, the story is somehow different and we do the cut version. Some transitions are not there, not all the music are there, and the transition of the story is really different from the long version of the company.

In the company, there won't be any babies dancing alone on stage. There will be professional dancers and time is really a treasure to the company. It's also easier to dance with colleagues that knows what they're doing and it doesn't take time.

For CCP, The Dance School is like our training center. It is where they form the students to become company members and principal dancers. The Company is where you show and apply what you learn as a student and sometimes even share your experiences and be a role model to the future and lower generations or batches.

Let's go back to the main story.
Sunday Morning, December 11, 2011 Warming up was common in the morning. it just so happened, after our green room, our dance and transition and Act, the funny part started when we started picturing ourselves. Starting with my friend N.

From Left to right: Me (Karen), @baTASHmilitar, @STEPHneeeck, and @dendenDENNYL

The four of us were taking picture shots backstage. We didn't even notice the time. It was a hilarious recital. We started taking pictures of different people and even random people passing by.

But for now, I'll start with this. I'll continue everything tomorrow. Already so sleepy! Good Night!

Sound Trip: Santa Claus is Coming To Town by Justin Bieber

"Surprisingly Good"
is all I can say now. I first saw this music video from a post in facebook. Surprisingly, the song was great, the arrangements is good, Justin Bieber sang it well, the video itself was good.

If I'd rate this I'll rate this 4 1/2. One reason why not 5 because the arrangements was just changing the tempo, beat and a little tune but not completely arranged. Although despite the lost 1/2 point star, I'd like to congratulate Justin Bieber for doing a good work for the song. Especially that it's timed for Christmas.

For another time in my life, Justin Bieber, you've gain my little respect about you. But I'm not a fan.

Anyways, Surprisingly this is Good and I'd like to hear more from you, too as a person who gives counted respect.

Here's the video to watch.

Scrapbook Making Introduction

As a child, I never grew up with the art of making scrapbooks let alone paint. Until I reached 5th grade, I finally bought my very first scrapbook and bought as many art materials to pile it up. But because of my busy life, it was called now the unfinished book.

That Unfinished Scrapbook contained the memories I had with the friend I lost. I told and swore to myself that I wouldn't change nor lose it or burn it because it's something that I'd like to remember again despite the ups and the downs in that certain period of time.

I bought a whole new set of Scrapbook and materials for a new beginning. I thought that this Scrapbook would be for ballet. You see, I have more than 1 part of my life working right now. I have my violin, my dance, my school, my club. I had this concept that I'm making of scrapbooks is making a new form of summarized diary in a very interesting and artistic way. It tells you what that person likes in the way she designs or how she picks the pictures and writes the capture.

For now, I'm still looking for pictures that I can put. I might develop old pictures. Until then, I'll post another update of this after I finished the scrapbook for Sleeping Beauty.

Make Up Part 2

Last Thursday,  I bought some more Make Up to add up in my Kit. These time it's not all Fashion 21. I tried other brands too and it worked for me.

I bought these for the show:

1. Double Up Mascara (Fashion 21) - This mascara really works well especially if you want to show your eyelashes, it works well with it and makes it even look longer and thicker.

2. Eye Lashes Natural X4289 (Elise) - This is the 2nd time I bought I lashes because the first one didn't really worked well with the lights and the stage. When  I tried this, it gave me a better look in my eyes and really makes my eyes pop out for the audience.

3. Eyelash Adhesive (Nichido) - Bought it from Nichido Cosmetics. I bought one from last Thursday and another one today because mine is already near empty and I need for the next 4 days. Really works well with mostly anything. It can be used to stick things in your skin! BUT warning, this is only for the use of Eyelashes.

4. Eyelash Curler (Fanny Serrano) - I love this Eyelash Curler! It really works well and it's easy to use. Also, the eyelash curler I bought had a Fanny Serrano scripted engraved in it. It's so cool and
classic.

5. Brush Set (Nichido) - This is one of the things I bought that I did not like. The first time I used these brushes, Seriously it was like poking my skin. It was like already 2 or 3 days after when the brush finally soften. Seriously, I'm buying a whole new set of brushes. I'd be dreaming to buy the ones from Fanny Serrano!

6. Liquid Eyeliner (Nichido) - This 4mL Liquid Eyeliner I bought was worth the price for me. Though after I put the eyeliner in my eye, it likes pierce it for a minute but I got used to it anyways. It's dark and great for my eyes.

7. Dipliner (Fashion 21) - I seriously loved this! This is one of my top picks in cosmetics. This dipliner is really easy to use and gives you a smokey eye look. The tip of the brush is soft but the short body is hard and controlled. So it's easy to use and it looks really nice as it is presented.

So I bought all of these again in one day. I'm planning to buy another set of Dipliner from Fashion 21 because I lost mine during the duration of the show. So I'm buying another one this week probably.  I'm going to try buying Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara. It might be a good start. I'm also going to buy doll eyes eyelashes to change looks during the shows and probably a new set of lipstick because it's dull if it's just all pink. I want red this time. I'm also going to be buying a small set of eyeshadow. I need stronger colors.

Sleeping Beauty Part 1

CCP Ballet Philippines have finally started showing last December 2, 2011. Our first performance was at 10 am and the next was 8 pm last Friday.

For two nights, our Guest Artist/Dancer Nobuo Fujino performed with us as Prince Desire partnering with Candice Adea on Friday Night and Carissa Adea on Saturday Night with the Manila Symphony Orchestra.

In each show, we get to eat our own breakfast, lunch and dinner provided by the company for the cast. The food was great and worth our hunger.

We have our warm up classes at least like 3 hours before. (1 1/2 hour class) We get to dance for a whole week for different people. Like schools and VIPs.

In the performances where schools or the kids watches, we get to have a story teller to entertain the flow of the performance. We also do cut versions for the kids also to rest longer for a while. But on gala nights and other performances it is a long version. It's only selected to some shows anyways.

We have finished at least 6 shows out of 17 shows for the whole running time. So there is about 11 shows left. But because I'm part of the CCP Dance School, that adds up to one more show but as a recital with the lower levels like the Baby Ballet. Also my role in the CCP Dance School is different from the company.

I'm putting updates the next week about Sleeping Beauty.
